When I first accepted the job in Bangladesh, I was very nervous. The company gave me a good relocation allowance, but I did not know what to do. Who is a good international moving company? Where is a good neighborhood for a foreign employee to live in? My first step was finding a good residence. Luckily, I stumbled across a few internet sites for ex-pats, which is what they call people living in a foreign country. I found a few ex-pat communities in India and Bangladesh, and even found a house next-door to someone from my hometown. After faxing a signed rental agreement, my next step was to select an international moving company.

Moving halfway across the world to a new country was nerve wracking enough, but then I began to wonder how I was going to move all of my things to Bangladesh. I had several suggestions about movers to avoid, but there was one international moving company that was praised by a number of people. I took stock of what I needed moved and gave the movers a call. They were immediately friendly and helpful, letting me know what I would need to prepare, explaining the process and offering inexpensive insurance on the items to be moved.

When the day came for the move, the international moving company sent several polite and hardworking workers to my house. After they reviewed what needed to moved, they immediately started quickly and carefully packing all of my things into sturdy boxes. After they were done, I signed a few forms and they quickly filed in and out of my home, stacking and securing the boxes in a truck for transportation to the airport. My house was mostly empty except for my luggage.

My sister arrived to take to the airport and I said my last goodbye to my home of seven years. At the airport, my brothers and a number of friends were there to see me off. After I checked in my luggage, we said our goodbyes to each other with hugs and tears all around. The flight was generally pleasant but rather uneventful. When I arrived at my new home, I was thrilled by the thriving neighborhood and even more excited about the beauty of my new place.

I gave the neighbor from my hometown a call and we went out for a light dinner at a local restaurant. I rented a nearby hotel room while I waited for my things to arrive in Bangladesh. When my house goods did not arrive on-time, I gave my international moving company a worried call. They politely explained that my electronics were held up in customs, apologized for the delay and let me know that my things would be delivered the next day. The next day, the movers arrived with all of my things. After a few more days, with my neighbor’s help, my things were unpacked and my house was in order. I was relieved my move was over and I was looking forward to life in Bangladesh.

Sewage damage to your home during a flood is a serious risk and if it is not taken care of properly, you may become very sick if you live in the home before it is properly cleaned up. Sewage will ALWAYS contain bacteria that cause all kinds of diseases, viruses, and other microorganisms that will cause you to become sick. As soon as the sewage and flood water has receded away from the home, you can begin cleaning it up. You must not allow the sewage to remain in your home any longer than necessary or it will possibly cause irreparable damage.

Proper protection equipment is essential when you are dealing with sewage damaged items. Always wear latex rubber gloves while you are working or do not help with the clean up process. A trick to help keep the gloves from sticking to your hands is to pour a small amount of baby powder inside them before you put them on. Rubber boots that are leak proof should also be worn to keep your feet dry and safe from the infected waters that may still be in your home.

Items that you will need for the cleaning process will be mops, brooms, sponges, buckets, a water hose, disinfectant products, and trash bags.

There are a few different items that you will throw away about 99 percent of the time once they have become contaminated with sewer water. These include large areas of carpet and carpet padding, food, books and other papers, foam rubber, and insulation. Porous toys must be thrown away, such as stuffed animals. Couches and chairs, mattresses, pillows, medicines, medical supplies, and cosmetics must also be thrown away. If it is porous, it must be thrown away.

Cleaning up the sewage is the next step. Using two buckets, one for cleaner-treated water and the other for rinsing water, you should do this one room at a time. Wash the surface you wish to start with and once you have gone over it one time, rinse your rag or mop in the rinse water. Do not re-insert it back into your cleaning water until you have rinsed it. Replace the rinsing water often.

After you clean an entire room, you should go over it again with a disinfectant. You may also have to deal with mold. Porous items with mold on them should be thrown away.

A thorn in the side of any and every workplace is mold. Mold is a very dangerous form of fungus that can get into our lungs and cause all kinds of nasty ailments such as asthma, colds, fatigue, bleeding in the lungs, rashes, uncontrollable coughing, and even chronic dandruff. Employers, as well as employees should take precautions to make sure that mold has not infected their work environment. It is also important to make sure that employers and employees immediately report if they experience any of the aforementioned symptoms. If so, professional help may need to be called in to clean out the mold and prevent further infestation.

If a mold inspector is called in and he or she does find mold, it is important that you inform your employees of the mold, and that the problem is indeed being taken care of. It is also important that you inform them of the measures that will be taken during the removal of the unwanted guest. The United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) strongly recommends that you do this for the safety of the employees. The important thing to tell the employees is when the remediation will begin and for how long, so that they know if they will have to make arrangements for the current situation. And if any employees begin to exhibit any health complications or symptoms brought on by exposure to mold, it is strongly recommended that they see their doctor before these symptoms worsen, and that they see an expert on medical effects of mold.

Once the infestation has been cleared out of the workplace, there is a test that must be passed in order for your employees to return. If the test is not passed, you will have to wait longer, but it’s not worth the safety of your employees to go cheap on these necessary precautions. Once the test has finally been passed, you can move your employees back into their respective work areas.

If you have chosen to simply ignore the mold infestation, you are liable for medical bills of your employees, and you could be in danger of losing your business. Of course, this can only happen if it is possible to proven that you knew of the infestation and chose to do nothing about it. However, it is definitely recommended to not ignore the infestation and shell out the cash to have it cleared out as soon as possible.

One of the places that we don’t usually think of when we think of mold is our working environment. We usually think that we’ll find it in our homes, but other buildings are just as susceptible. If you are responsible for a number of employees and you suspect that there might be a mold infestation in your building, the first thing that you need to do is mold testing yourself and finding out if there truly is an infection of mold on the premises. Send off the mold samples to a laboratory that specializes in the identification of mold and you should receive your results back in a couple of weeks.

If you find that there is truly a mold infestation on your property, then the best thing that you can do for all concerned is to notify your employees that there is a problem. Call in an inspector so that they can determine just how extensive the contamination is and after they have given some professional advice, you should tell your employees that they are laid off until the contamination is taken care of. They should be informed of when the mold remediation will begin and the approximate date that it will end.

Inform your employees also that if they have been experiencing any health complications since they started working for you such as respiratory problems, skin rashes, or anything else that might be attributed to the presence of mold in the building.

Take care of the mold problem in your building as soon as possible; you do not want to be held responsible for the medical bills of your employees if they are diagnosed as having a condition caused by the mold they were exposed to while they were working for you. Not only will you be liable for the medical bills, but you will also probably be liable for their loss of income until they can return to work.

The contamination of your building should never be ignored, whether it is your home or your workplace, because even if you can afford to pay for the medical bills of others, you do not want this affecting your own health. It is truly not worth it to risk the health of others along with your own in order to try and save some money. Have the mold removed as soon as possible.

Are you just skimming the surface or looking at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to your online market method? or are you delving into parts unknown to assess potential new marketing channels?

Not that idioms or clichés offer a true in-depth solution, they can however provide excellent analogies to draw parallels. Opportunity is measured by your ability to grasp and act on useful and pertinent information. However, gleaning or foraging this crucial information is dependent on your vision.

Just like a tip of the iceberg, it’s not what you see or you engage within the scope of your market, it is what you overlook and do not that results in missed opportunities.

For example in search engine optimization, taking off the blinders and redefining your stance (seeing without tunnel vision) when it comes to identifying profitable keywords, niches, products or services is what distinguishes market leaders from mere followers. Those who plot expeditions into parts unknown have the advantage of mapping out the territories as they see fit.

Just as there is a keyword conquest for optimizing the top traffic bearing phrases in organic search engine optimization, ROI and analytics to track conversion for PPC, the need to manage suppliers, contacts and the needs of your supply chain and in-house management with CRM, having all of those resources bundled at your fingertips is the future of the next generation online business model.

This new model is robust, flexible and agile with the ability to saturate and position products, services or companies respectively using premier platforms and technologies in an integrated fashion. To maximize those platforms businesses require search engine optimization services.

The implications are enormous with the ability to facilitate interests from small niche markets to enterprise clients. With such a vast expanse of opportunity, leveraging existing brand equity into viable niche markets or parallel marketing channels is the new face of online marketing. Consider it the merger of all things SEO, PPC, CRM and beyond. Just like seeing is believing, in business it boils down to results and those companies who couple specialized products and services to reach and achieve a larger collective goal, are leaps and bounds ahead of the rest.

When sending well-rounded wine gifts to a loved one, it’s important to not stop at the bottle of wine. While the bottle is important (and probably the most important!), there are other wine gifts that should be included in an effective wine gift basket:

1) The corkscrew. You can never be sure whether or not your loved one has a working corkscrew handy, especially if it’s someone you do not see often. Including the corkscrew guarantees that the bottle can be enjoyed immediately, if so desired.

2) Drip ring. While wine professionals know how to pour without dripping, many of us amateurs will still have that solitary drip running down the side of the bottle. The drip ring will prevent that.

3) Stopper. There are exceptions to this, but many times someone will open a bottle of wine, enjoy a glass, and then set it aside for later. Jamming the cork in can delay staleness, but a proper wine stopper will help that bottle last for days longer.

4) Wine thermometer. As a general rule of thumb, white wines and champagnes are chilled, while red wines are served at room temperature. Including the wine thermometer will give your loved one the ability to tell when the wine is at a drinkable temperature.

When you are invited for a job interview, it pays to be prepared, and part of being prepared is knowing ahead of time how you are going to do certain things that will give you a competitive advantage. ITS helps you do this in six ways because it teaches you how to:

(1) Read the interviewer’s personality

(2) Maximize personal chemistry in minutes

(3) Communicate through memorable stories

(4) Have good questions ready

(5) Know all about the employer

(6) Answer difficult questions easily

ITS provides some guidance in both print and audio. Things you can learn include how to overcome objections while building rapport, how to select and prepare references, how to answer common questions, and much more. The surprising thing is, it does not take a person that long to be thoroughly prepared in all these areas, and once they’ve done the preparation, they’re set for the entire job search.

Many job seekers will find one section particularly interesting. It is titled ‘5 Proven Rules For Interviewing Success.’ It gives you detailed instructions on how to build personal chemistry in a number of ways, how to pay compliments, for example, without coming across as giving empty flattery, how to ask questions that direct the discussion to areas you know will help you, and how to follow up and project enthusiasm. Of course, researching employers ahead of time is always important, for several reasons, and ITS has a number of resources that enable job seekers to quickly learn a lot, not only about a company, but also about the industry and, backgrounds of key individuals in the company.

ITS offers Personal Marketing Services that goes far beyond Outplacement Career counseling. ITS uses its own unique technology to give job seekers access to as much as 85% of the advertised openings, including those from newspapers, recruiter openings, job boards, employer sites, and trade magazines. It also provides access to the unadvertised job market among employers, recruiters and growth companies.

Water pipes in the home that are not properly insulated can freeze and burst in the winter if the temperature drops to below 20 degrees. Even a crack that is only one-eighth of an inch can let out over 250 gallons of water each day and the water damage this can cause can potentially be catastrophic. Your floors, clothes, carpet, and personal items will be damaged and as the water dries up and spring returns, it will leave you with a more serious problem. This problem is mold and when water damage to your home isn’t repaired correctly or not repaired at all, it can grow in your home and make your entire family become sick over time. While most insurance policies do not cover mold, water damage is usually covered to some extent. Preventing water damage to your home that is covered can help you prevent the mold damage to your home that isn’t covered and while any kind of water damage can cause this mold to grow, but burst frozen pipes are one of the easiest things to prevent.

One of the first things that you should do during the winter is cover your indoor water pipes with insulation. Where possible, make sure warm air can get to your pipes during a deep freeze. Do this either by opening the cabinets under your kitchen and bathroom sinks or placing a space heater in the room with these pipes. If you’re going to use space heaters, be careful and don’t leave them unattended for long or where they can possibly catch things on fire. Don’t use extension cords with space heaters and keep anything that could catch fire preferably over 5 feet away or you could be facing a fire damage problem instead of water.

Disconnect any garden hoses and make sure cracks in your home’s foundation are sealed so cold air, water, and snow can’t get inside to your pipes. Keeping a small bit of water running through hot and cold water faucets can also mean the difference between a busted and an un-busted pipe.

Should kids who commit crimes be punished or rehabilitated? The American justice system swings back and forth, at times believing we can stop juvenile crime by educating children and addressing their social conditions and other times believing that children are no different then adults and must be punished and scared into following the law. Today the Juvenile Courts attempt to do both.

The First Level - JCC
If the offense is minor and the juvenile is young and has few prior offenses the case will be heard by the Juvenile Conference Committee (JCC) at an informal hearing. Guilt or innocence is not the focus, as the Conference’s goal is early intervention with the intent to educate the child and their family. Often the child will be ordered to perform Community Service, tour a juvenile jail and / or write an essay explaining what they did wrong and why it was wrong. If they complete everything that is required the charge will be dismissed.

The Second Level - Juvenile Court
If the crime is more serious, such as possession of drugs or assault, the juvenile goes before the juvenile court. Juvenile Court is separate from Criminal Court and is instead part of the Family Division. Unlike criminal court, juvenile proceedings are closed to the public and there are no juries to return indictments or decide trials. Everything is decided by the Judge. Despite these informalities, the potential consequences for a juvenile offender are serious. A juvenile faces up to three years probation and four years in a juvenile jail. Therefore, all juveniles must be represented by an attorney.

The judge has a tremendous amount of discretion and alternatives when sentencing a juvenile which is why representation by an experienced juvenile attorney is so important. In addition to probation or jail a judge with the input of the juvenile’s family through counsel will determine what restrictions and programs will help modify the child’s behavior.

The Third Level - Waiver Into Adult Court
Occasionally, the county prosecutor determines that the crime the juvenile is accused of committing is too serious to be dealt with by the juvenile court. The prosecutor can request the juvenile judge to place the child under the jurisdiction of the criminal court and be tried as an adult. The juvenile judge will hold a two part hearing and at its conclusion decide whether or not to grant the prosecutor’s motion to treat the child as an adult in addressing the charges.
The outcome of any of these avenues in the juvenile justice system will clearly have an everlasting impact on a child’s life. For most juveniles simply going before a judge and understanding the real consequences of their action is enough to curb their bad behavior. For others, counseling and programs can aid a parent who needs to re-establish authority over their defiant child. Undeniably, the most important thing we can do as parents, attorneys and judges is to catch our community’s children quickly before the system decides punishment is the only answer. This article is intended to provide general advice only. It is not intended to take the place of a consultation.
